“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you..." Jeremiah 1:5 NASB While participating in an Esther fast, God brought to my remembrance a vivid dream that I had a year ago. This artwork reflects what I saw – a sonogram (this little baby is praying!), Jeremiah 1:5 verses, and the words “It’s Black and White.” The written Word of God declares He intimately knew us and had a plan for each one of us before we were born. Esther’s fasting led to the reversal of a decree that would have annihilated the Jewish people. Her bravery and willingness to stand up for her people encourages us in “such a time as this” to pray for our nation, our leadership, and our hearts to be completely surrendered to a loving Father.
2017 WORD... A New Thing!
On December 31st I asked the Lord if He had a Word or a Scripture for 2017. Later that day, I heard in my Spirit “I am doing a new thing.” I looked it up right away and found it in the beautiful book of Isaiah: Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 I was excited about this Word but knew it was a “popular” verse that has been used before for new year encouragement. Thinking maybe a verse with 17 would be more obvious, I asked God for clarity. He said “COUNT THE NUMBERS” and right away I could see 43:19 as 4+3+1+9. The answer? 17!!! And the previous verse, 43:18, which speaks about the past, is 4+3+1+8=16. You are so amazing, and creative, and gracious Lord! As we let go of 2016, help us see and hear the new thing that You are doing in 2017! This “new” artwork was created while seeking and meditating on these verses.
IT IS WELL (my testimony artwork)
I was asked to create a piece that would reflect Horatio Spafford’s “It Is Well” hymn. His family had decided to take a vacation overseas but Horatio had to take care of some business so he sent his wife and four daughters ahead. The ship capsized and his wife survived sending a telegram “Saved. Alone.” Horatio sailed to join his wife and he penned the hymn over the waters where his four daughters drown. I started with a soothing color palette and visualized the helm of the ship going steadfastly through the waters. I had taken a random photo of a distant fishing boat out in the ocean just six months earlier. Checking the quality of the photo on the computer screen, I noticed the name on the side of the boat...“DADDY'S GIRLS”!!! God had me take that “random” photo knowing that it would be used to bless someone and give Him glory!

GIVING THANKS
"Giving thanks" in a season of “Thanksgiving” In the Book of Acts, the Apostle Paul and other prisoners are being sent to Rome on a ship. The journey is very stormy and difficult. Right before they are shipwrecked - and having had no food for 14 days, Paul breaks bread among them - including many unbelievers. “...giving thanks to God in the presence of all...” Acts 27:35 From Barnes’ commentary it reads, “Paul was among those who were not Christians; but he was not ashamed of the proper acknowledgment of God, and was not afraid to avow his dependence on Him, and to express his gratitude for His mercy.” The background of this artwork is wooden planking and an ornate carving like that on a ship. There is a photo of torn bread and autumn foliage. Elements in the imagery that were not planned: On the right hand side of the artwork it looks like a set of hands... Paul’s hands... preparing to break the bread... amazing! Next to the hands - a bundle of wheat - the travelers had to throw overboard all extra weight including their grain, their daily sustenance. Sometimes along the journey we find ourselves letting go of excessive baggage - relying only on our Father, our Daddy, our Jehoveh-Jireh. At the top of the artwork in the middle - the cracks in the planks create a small cross - an unnoticed detail in the busyness of life - He is always there in the midst of our voyage!

PERFECT
A dear friend came and cut down thorn bushes behind our Shine Living gallery last spring. Out of her serving heart came this beautiful crown of thorns. For many months I kept hearing the word “perfect”. Perfect: Lacking nothing essential to the whole; Complete; Pure; Mature; Having no mistakes or flaws; Excellent and delightful in all respects; Accurately reproducing an original. At the end of December this artwork all came together. I felt the Lord was saying this is the encircling essence of the 175 pieces of artwork I have created and all I will do in the future. Every answer can be found in Jesus. He has done everything through His perfect sacrifice. I cannot add anything, through any kind of works, to what He did for me. It was finished at the Cross and I can rest in Him. Thank You Jesus! All praise and glory to You! A perfect message for 2015!

Frightened and yet filled with great joy, Mary and Mary Magdalene rushed to tell the others. Their friend was alive, their teacher lived, their Messiah reigned – even over death. Years ago I had longingly gazed on a friend’s photo of the Garden Tomb, deeply moved by the events that had happened there.
